Privacy Policy

This policy covers www.simb.co, the website of SimB & Company (“SimBco,” “we”), a software development company in Portland, Oregon. The short version: we collect very little, we use it to run the site and to answer you, and we don’t sell it or share it for advertising.

What we collect

When you contact us. The contact form asks for your name, email address, what you’re looking to build, and a message. If you email or call us instead, we have whatever you send or tell us.

When you browse. We measure visits with Matomo, an open-source analytics tool that we run on our own server rather than sending your data to an analytics company. It records the pages you view, the site that referred you, your browser and device type, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and when you visited. We store IP addresses with the last two parts removed, so they can’t be traced back to you. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, Matomo doesn’t record your visit at all.

Technical logs. The servers that run this site keep short-lived operational logs so we can fix errors and spot abuse. We keep them for about a month.

That’s all. There are no advertising trackers, social media pixels or third-party analytics on this site, and our fonts load from our own servers, not from Google.

Cookies

Matomo sets two cookies, both used only for our own visitor statistics:

• _pk_id recognizes a returning browser. It lasts up to 13 months.
• _pk_ses groups the pages you view into one visit. It lasts 30 minutes.

You can block or delete them in your browser settings, and the site works exactly the same without them. We set no other cookies on www.simb.co.

How we use it

• To answer your inquiry and follow up on the project or question you raised.
• To understand which pages are useful and improve the site.
• To keep the site secure and running.

Contacting us doesn’t sign you up for a newsletter or marketing emails. If we write to you, it’s about what you asked us.

Who else handles it

We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. A few service providers run parts of our systems and process information only on our behalf:

• Amazon Web Services hosts this website.
• WP Engine hosts the system that stores contact form submissions and hosting accounts.
• Google Workspace runs our email.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect the rights or safety of others, or to a buyer if the business is ever sold.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiries for as long as they’re useful to the conversation and any work that follows, and we’ll delete yours when you ask. Analytics stays on our own server and is used only in aggregate.

Hosting customers

If we host your website, you manage your plan at account.simb.co. There we keep your name, company, email, billing address, and your subscription and invoice history. Card payments go through our payment processor, and we never see or store your full card number. We keep billing records for as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Our clients’ data

When we build or host software for a client, the data in that software belongs to the client. It’s governed by our agreement with them and by their own privacy policy, not this one. This policy covers only our own website and our own conversations with you.

Your choices

• To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, email us. We’ll answer within 30 days.
• To opt out of analytics, turn on Do Not Track in your browser or block cookies for www.simb.co.

Security

The site is served only over encrypted connections, and access to inquiries and accounts is limited to the people on our team who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we build and run ours the way we’d want a vendor to run theirs.

Children

This site isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
